Professional Career
Fortuitous networking connections led Julie’s finance-focused career trajectory into the realm of nonprofit corporations, where she instantly knew she had found her niche. The next seven years were spent working on the finance team for a Charlotte-based nonprofit providing campus- and community-based foster care services, charter school operations, and mental health counseling to disadvantaged North Carolina youth and their families. In 2021, Julie joined the Laxton team (via CREO at the time) as a financial operations consultant, specializing in operational process improvement, financial audit preparedness, and controller services for nonprofit clients nationwide.

Personal
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Julie moved to Charlotte in 2001 and has spent the subsequent decades sprawling further and further outside the city limits toward her current home base in South Carolina. Along with her spouse, they bounce from one daughter’s lacrosse games to the other’s musical theater productions. Weekends are spent renovating their historic Sears home in the upstate of South Carolina or “living tiny” on the rural family property in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains. Julie has an affinity for beach driving in a doorless Jeep, vegetable gardening, reading historical fiction novels, coffee-flavored anything, and her rescue pitties, Stitch and Lilo. The South is her happy place, but she will forever be a Cleveland baseball fan!
